Getting started with Nureva® Console Analytics

Feature available with Nureva Pro and a Nureva Console account
Last Updated: November 3rd, 2022

The Analytics feature in Nureva Console is available with Nureva Pro and allows users to explore data about the Nureva audio devices in their organization.

Don't have Nureva Pro?

You can still try Console Analytics! Users on standard plans can view data from the past 3 days.

Why use Console Analytics?

Analytics help you to understand how your Nureva audio devices are being used and help you ensure optimal audio experiences.

Exploring device usage data can give insights into:

  • Whether devices are being used consistently by meeting participants
  • If conferencing spaces are being used efficiently
  • Which conferencing-enabled spaces are most or least popular

Data about background noise levels from Nureva audio devices can help you to:

  • Compare background noise levels across multiple rooms
  • Troubleshoot when audio issues are reported
  • Proactively detect and correct issues
  • Identify where to invest in improving room acoustics

Required before you start:

  1. Ensure the Nureva Console client application in each room is running and up to date
  2. Confirm your Nureva audio devices have the latest firmware
  3. Enroll your Nureva audio devices into Nureva Console cloud to enable remote management

What data is available?

Currently, the Analytics feature allows you to explore device usage and background noise data.

Device usage data

The device usage chart provides data about the time and duration when the microphone of each enrolled Nureva audio device was in use. This includes times when the microphone was muted.

View the sum of minutes each device was in use over different time intervals. Identifying patterns of use can help you understand whether your rooms and Nureva audio devices are being used effectively.

Background noise data

The background noise chart shows the average, minimum and maximum background noise levels over time for the selected room, measured in dBA. It also shows the maximum background noise level recommended by Nureva, for comparison.

Investigating background noise levels can help you troubleshoot audio issues. When background noise levels in a particular room are higher than recommended levels, comparing noise levels at different time intervals can help to determine the source of the noise.

Nureva advises a maximum background noise level of around 40 dBA. If Analytics is reporting a background noise level beyond 45 dBA for a sustained period, we recommend reviewing the space to determine what can be done to decrease background noise levels.

Explore background noise levels in the room at different dates and times to determine if there is a pattern to when peak noise levels occur. This could help pinpoint the best times to visit the room to investigate the source of the noise.

How to use Console Analytics

  • Access the Analytics feature by logging into Nureva Console cloud and navigating to Analytics in the left-hand navigation menu

  • On the Analytics landing page are the Device usage and Background noise charts
    • The charts show data for the first room in your organization alphabetically
    • View and compare data for different rooms using the 'Select a room' dropdown menu

  • With a Nureva Pro plan
    • By default, these charts display data from the past week
    • Change the date range using the Date range selector found on the top right-hand side of the browser window
    • Select a single day or a date range of up to 31 days
  • With a standard plan
    • Try out this Pro feature by viewing data from the past 3 days, but you will not be able to change the date range

  • From the landing page, click the Explore button for the type of data you would like to explore
    • With a Nureva Pro plan: If you have selected a custom date range, this selection will persist when you explore the chart
    • The room selection will persist when you explore the chart

Explore device usage data

  • When you click the Explore button for device usage data, you will see a larger version of the device usage chart from the landing page

You can explore device usage data via the following controls

  • Any changes that are made to these options will persist on the background noise chart
  1. Date range
    • With a Nureva Pro plan
      • Change the date range by clicking on the calendar icon
      • Select a single day or a range of up to 31 days
    • With a standard plan
      • Try out this Nureva Pro feature by viewing data from the past 3 days, but you will not be able to change the date range
  2. Timeframe
    • This setting filters the data from the selected date range to show the specified times from each day
    • For example, the image above has a date range of Oct 1 - Oct 7, 2021 and a timeframe from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
      • Data captured between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on each of those days is displayed
    • Change the timeframe using the dropdown menus for Start time and End time
      • The minimum range is 1 hour
    • The time zone is taken from the system time of the computer you are using to access Analytics
      • This may not be the same as the time zone where the Nureva audio device is located
  3. Select a room
    • Use the radio buttons to view and compare data for different rooms
  4. Chart interactions
    • When you hover over a particular bar, you will see a popup that shows the time stamp and the data value for that x-value
    • Use your mouse or trackpad to zoom into the chart to view data on a smaller time scale

NOTEThe level of detail at which the data is displayed is determined by the combination of the date range and timeframe selections.

  • See the data in finer detail by selecting a smaller date range and/or time frame
  • For a coarser level of detail select a larger date range and/or time frame

Explore background noise data

  • Click the Explore button for device usage data and see a larger version of the device usage chart from the landing page

  • This chart shows (1) the average and (2) the range of background noise measurements over time
  • Explore background noise data via the following controls

How far back in time can I go?

With a Nureva Pro account, you may explore data for each device as far back as 3 years, with a hard limit of Sept 1, 2021. (This is when Nureva first enabled data collection on its audio devices.) However, the date range is limited to a maximum of 31 days at a time.

Missing data

Nureva Console Analytics can only display data collected by each Nureva audio device. How far back in time data exists for each of your devices is limited to when the firmware was updated to a version that collects data:

  • HDL300 and Dual HDL300: Firmware version 2.5.72+
  • HDL200: Firmware version 1.4.72798+

If you choose a date range for which no data is stored, you will see a message that says, "Hmm... looks like your audio device was not collecting data at that time. Please select different dates or times."

Nureva audio devices collect data when they are in the Online state in Nureva Console cloud. There may be times when you see a data gap in a chart due to the device not being online.
