Tip: Using the HDL300 system with your conferencing software

Below are some tips for making the most out of your HDL300 audio conferencing system with your conferencing software.

Setting your default device

Before you start a conference call, make sure your HDL300 system is set as your default audio device. If it's not set as your default device, the system might try to use the speaker or microphone from another device, which can result in poor audio input and output.

Check if your HDL300 system is your default device

  1. Open Nureva Room Manager
  2. Navigate to the Audio Conferencing System → Controls page.

The text at the top will tell you if "the HDL300 system is set as your default device" or not.

Set your default device

If the HDL300 system is not set as your default device, follow the steps below:

  1. Open "Manage Audio Devices" in your Windows® control panel
  2. Under the Playback tab, select Echo Cancelling Speakerphone HDL300
  3. At the bottom of the page, click the "Set Default" dropdown menu and choose "Default Device"

If you would like to set your HDL300 system as the "Default communication device" but not the default device for other audio, select "Default communication device" from the dropdown menu instead, and set a different playback device as your "Default device."

  1. Go to the Recording tab. Repeat steps 2 to 3.
  2. Click Apply

Check your conferencing software's default device

If your audio still isn't playing through the HDL300 system, your audio conferencing software might also have a setting to configure the default audio device. If there is, check that your HDL300 is set to the default device in your audio conferencing software too.

Changing the volume

Keep in mind that when you change either the microphone or the speaker volume within Nureva Room Manager, the microphone or the speaker volume settings in your Windows® system settings will change as well.

However, if you adjust the speaker or microphone volume in your audio conferencing software, the settings in your Windows system settings or Nureva Room Manager will probably not change. This inconsistency might make it difficult for you to get your HDL300 system to an optimal input or output volume.

For example, if the Room Manager volume is set to 50%, and Skype® For Business' audio output is set to 50%, then users will only hear 25% of the system's volume capacity.

We recommend setting, and leaving, your audio conferencing software to a volume of approximately 70%. Then, when you need to change the system's input or output volume, adjust it using the Nureva Room Manager settings.

Zoom® Rooms settings

Open your Zoom settings. Make sure both the microphone and speaker are set to "Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (HDL300)." Additionally, toggle "Software Audio Processing" to the OFF position.

Microsoft® Teams™ settings

The volume settings in Microsoft® Teams™ can be found by clicking the gear icon when you're in a call. Set the audio devices to "HDL300", and the speaker and microphone to "Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (HDL300)."

Cisco® WebEx™ volume settings

The volume settings in WebEx are located in the computer audio settings viewed by clicking the More Options button. Set the volume for both the speaker and microphone to approximately 70%.

Make sure "Automatically adjust volume" is deselected.

GoToMeeting™ volume settings

The volume settings in GoToMeeting are located in the software preferences. Set the volume for both the speaker and microphone to approximately 70%.

Also, make sure that the "Advanced settings are deselected:

⬜ Automatically adjust my system mixer settings

⬜ Use automatic volume and noise processing

Fuze® Rooms volume settings

To set up your HDL300 system with Fuze Rooms, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure your HDL300 system connect module is connected to an in-room PC using the USB A-B cable
  2. Download and open the Fuze desktop application
  3. With admin permissions, go to Profile Settings → Audio/Video
  4. Under Microphone & Speakers, set the HDL300 system as the default device
  5. Configure the following:
    • Speaking via: Echo Cancelling Speakerphone
    • Listening via: Echo Cancelling Speakerphone

  1. Open the Advanced options
  2. Toggle OFF "Enable acoustic echo cancellation" and "Enable automatic gain control"

  1. Close the Settings dialog

You will now be able to use your HDL300 with any of the Fuze applications
