Adding templates

Add templates to a canvas. Edit, pin, duplicate and add a hyperlink to a template.

About templates

Add templates to organize notes, images, sketches and groups on your canvas. The content added to a template moves together when the template is moved around the canvas. 

Add a template from:

  • The Span™ web app using a certified mobile browser
  • The Span web app using a certified computer browser
  • Span wall software 

Use basic templates to help organize content

Templates with hot spots help categorize content into groups within the template.

Templates with colored hot spots change the color of your notes to match that area. 

Adding a template

From your device

  1. Select Template from the toolbar
  2. Give the template a title (optional). You can edit the title of the template while it is still in your tray by double clicking it. Use the three-dot menu on the top right corner of the template to duplicate or delete the template from your tray.
  3. Drag the template from your tray to the canvas when you are ready to share it   

  1. Add notes, images, sketches and groups by dragging them inside the template  

On the wall

  1. Select Template from the toolbar
  2. Double tap on the template title to open the editing box. Give the template a title (optional).
  3. Click Done to close the editing box

Edit a template

Once a template has been added to your canvas, it can be edited from your device or while working at the wall either by double tapping it to edit the title or by using the three-dot menu on the top-right corner of template.

  • Edit text: Change the title of the template
  • Pin: Attach the template to the canvas background to prevent it from being moved. To undo pinning, open the menu again and select Unpin.
  • Duplicate: Create a copy of the template and all of its content
  • Delete: Remove the template and all of its content from the canvas
  • Add link: Add a hyperlink to your template
